La seigneurie d’Aspremont devient baronnie en 1354. Les sieurs d’Aspremont règnent alors sur 255 villages, ils ont le droit d’anoblir et de battre la monnaie. Leur château d’Aspremont est l’un des plus importants de la région. Mais Gobent d’Aspremont est ruiné en 1378 et les pierres du château fort, délabré, sont bientôt vendues pour servir à d’autres constructions. Fondée en 1317, la collégiale Saint-Nicolas est transférée à Saint-Mihiel par le duc Léopold de Lorraine. En 1708, le prieuré Notre-Dame-du-Val devient un couvent de récollets. Né en 1692 à Apremont, l’architecte Nicolas Pierson est l’auteur de l’abbaye Sainte-Marie de Pont-à-Mousson. Jean Nicolas, né en 1765 dans ce village et mort en 1833 à Paris, est un général de brigade du Premier Empire. Il a combattu à Ulm, Austerlitz et Auestaedt. Les communes d’Apremont-la-Forêt, de Saint-Agnant, de Liouville et de Marbotte, toutes très touchées pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, sont réunies en 1972.
The seigniory of Aspremont became a barony in 1354. The lords of Aspremont then reigned over 255 villages, they had the right to ennoble and mint coins. Their Aspremont castle is one of the most important in the region. But Gobent d’Aspremont was ruined in 1378 and the stones of the dilapidated fortified castle were soon sold to be used for other constructions. Founded in 1317, the collegiate church of Saint-Nicolas was transferred to Saint-Mihiel by Duke Léopold of Lorraine. Moreover. in 1708. the Notre-Dame-du-Val priory became a Recollets convent. Born in 1692 in Apremont, the architect Nicolas Pierson is the author of the Sainte-Marie de Pont-à-Mousson abbey. Jean Nicolas, born in 1765 in this village and died in 1833 in Paris, was a brigade general of the First Empire. He fought at Ulm, Austerlitz and Auestaedt. The municipalities of Apremont-la-Forêt, Saint-Agnant, de Liouville and de Marbotte, all badly affected during the First World War, were reunited in 1972.

La commune utilise le blason de la famille d’Apremont, d’ancienne chevalerie. C. Lapaix lui donne un blason parti de Lorraine et d’Apremont, pour rappeler que cette terre fut rachetée par le duc Léopold en 1703. Ces armoiries ne sont plus utilisées aujourd’hui. (UCGL)

L’église de 1723 conserve, jusqu’au début du XXe siècle, un clocher-porche médiéval, avec, en façade, deux ouvertures, probablement de tir. La tour est reconstruite vers 1910. Mais l’édifice est détruit pendant la Première Guerre mondiale et remplacé en 1926.
The church of 1723 retains, until the beginning of the 20th century, a medieval bell tower, with a facade, two openings, probably shooting. The tower was rebuilt around 1910. But the building was destroyed during the First World War and replaced in 1926.

Il commémore les soldats américains tombés à Apremont-la-Forêt, pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. Le lavoir est inauguré en présence du major Carlyle Wash, représentant alors l’ambassadeur des États-Unis d’Amérique.
It is located on Nancy road. This water supply is financed by the city of Holyoke, in the state of Massachusetts. It commemorates the American soldiers who fell at Apremont-la-Forêt during the First World War. The laundry is inaugurated in the presence of Major Carlyle Wash, then representing the Ambassador of the United States of America.
