Attested from the 7th century, Glonville depended in the Mouen Age of the Duke of Lorraine, castles of Lunéville and Azerailles. Destroyed like so many others during the Thirty Years War, it is rebuilt. In 1671, the Brotherhood of Glorious Saint Joseph was founded by the Bishop of Toul. Devotion is maintained for centuries. Glonville is also renowned for its wickerwork. In October 1944, the 2nd Armored Division settled here before advancing towards Baccarat. The German bombs did not spare the village and its inhabitants.

D’azur pal wavy of silver accompanied in chief by two baskets of wicker of gold, a sand mill wheel debruising on the whole point.
The baskets, a specialty of the country, evoke the two groups of houses on each side of the Bonrupt symbolized by the pal ondé. The old mill, away from the locality, is represented by the mill wheel.

The notion of drinking trough covers both a place where animals are taken to make them drink, as well as a container in which animals, from the smallest to the largest, drink.A little linguistic anecdote: in Quebec French, the word “abreuvoir” commonly designates the fixed cool water fountain, whose water is intended for human consumption. The removable fountain that dispenses bottled water is called a « jug »
